This is England (2006)
The story of skinheads in England spans generations. A snippet of this cultural revolution comes to life in the 2006 drama This is England. Skinheads traditionally were apolitical rebels in England interested in non-conformist culture aspects, specifically music and fashion. Social trends within the skinhead community evolved until there was a split between the classic skinheads interested in counter-culture, and those more in agreeance with the modern interpretation of the word "skinhead."
This is England portrays a tight-knit group of apolitical skinheads in the mid-80's that accepts a young but aggressive school boy, Shaun, and teaches him how to fit in just by being himself. The skinheads are led by Woody, a charismatic and reserved skinhead who exemplifies the classic form of counter-culturalism. But his seat of power is questioned when Combo, a violent and racist skinhead, returns from prison to reclaim his spot as leader of their group. Ultimately Combo forces a split among group members, keeping those interested in his nationalist, racist agenda. Each character in the group must decide to follow Woody and remain unaffiliated with politics, or Combo and pursue his plan to keep England white.
